Cardinals activated LHP Jaime Garcia from the disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Memphis.
Just a procedural move. Garcia has made his way back from Tommy John surgery and boasts a 2.78 ERA in 22 2/3 minor league innings this season. The Cardinals have said they won't recall him in September.

Jaime Garcia tossed two innings Thursday in his first rehab appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery last season.
Garcia pitched two scoreless innings, striking out one batter, inducing five groundballs and displaying a fastball between 88 and 91 mph. He still has a long road of rehab ahead and probably won't contribute this season, but could crack the Cardinals' starting rotation by next spring.

Cardinals placed LHP Jaime Garcia on the 15-day disabled list following Tommy John surgery.
Garcia might make it back from Tommy John surgery in September, but even if he's ready, it's unlikely that the Cards would bring him to the majors. Look for him again in 2010.
