 Justin Smoak-1B - Rangers Jun. 13 - 7:57 pm et

2008 first-round pick Justin Smoak is battling a strained oblique.
Smoak will probably miss the next seven to 10 days. He's batting .325/.444/.503 with six home runs and 25 RBI in 151 at-bats this season. If he can get back on track, there's a good chance he'll earn a promotion to Triple-A by the end of the season.

 Justin Smoak-1B - Rangers Apr. 27 - 3:49 am et

Justin Smoak went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and a walk Sunday for Double-A Frisco.
It doesn't really seem like a stretch to suggest that Smoak could handle major league pitching right now. He was a bit off in his first two weeks in Double-A, but he's up to .323/.427/.516 now.
 Justin Smoak-1B - Rangers Mar. 20 - 2:15 pm et

Rangers reassigned 1B Justin Smoak, RHP Elizardo Ramirez and LHP Joe Torres to minor league camp; optioned 3B German Duran, OF Julio Borbon and OF Greg Golson to Triple-A Oklahoma; optioned RHP John Bannister to Double-A Frisco.
Smoak probably isn't quite ready yet, but the 2008 first-round pick isn't far away at all. He hit .261/.320/.478 in 23 at-bats this spring. Ramirez goes down despite surrendering just an unearned run in 6 1/3 innings. He will see time in the Texas pen this year.
 Justin Smoak-1B - Rangers Mar. 4 - 5:57 pm et

2008 first-round pick Justin Smoak hit a three-run homer off Daniel Cortes to lead the Rangers to a 5-3 win over the Royals on Wednesday.
Smoak is 5-for-10 and he has two doubles to go along with the homer. He looked about as close to the majors as any prospect drafted last year, and nothing has happened to alter that assessment since June. The Rangers might be ready to pencil him in at first base or DH by this time next year.
