Chris Coghlan won the National League Rookie of the Year award.
This a mild surprise, because of the competition Coghlan had for the award. He beat out J.A. Happ, Tommy Hanson and Andrew McCutchen. Our ballot would have given preference to Happ and McCutchen. Regardless, Coghlan was excellent in his debut campaign, hitting .321/.390/.460 in 565 plate appearances with 84 runs scored, 31 doubles, and nine steals in 128 games.

 Chris Coghlan-OF - Marlins Oct. 4 - 6:25 pm et

Chris Coghlan went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI against the Phillies on Sunday.
Coghlan finishes an excellent rookie season at .321 with 84 runs scored, 31 doubles, and nine steals in 128 games. He won't win the Rookie of the Year award, but he may well have had the most valuable debut among all position players this season. Unfortunately he won't have eligibility at second base next season unless the club decides to move Dan Uggla to third or another team.
 Chris Coghlan-OF - Marlins Sep. 17 - 10:26 pm et

Chris Coghlan was 4-for-4 with a run scored in a loss to the Reds on Thursday night.
He's not slowing down. Coghlan is batting an astounding .381 with four homers, 26 RBI and 36 runs scored in 44 games since the start of August. He's batting .324 out of the leadoff spot. Don't discount him in NL Rookie of the Year discussions.
 Chris Coghlan-OF - Marlins Aug. 27 - 4:33 pm et

Chris Coghlan went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers Thursday against the Mets.
Coghlan would probably be more valuable at second or third, but he's been a solid left fielder since arriving in early May. He's hitting .293 with nine homers now. In 71 games in the leadoff spot, he's batted .313/.375/.456 with 47 runs scored.
 Chris Coghlan-OF - Marlins Aug. 16 - 5:18 pm et

Chris Coghlan went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI as the Marlins trounced the Rockies 10-3 on Sunday.
Coghlan hit a three-run homer in the second inning and also added a pair of singles. His 12-game hit streak was snapped yesterday, but it's good to see him pick right back up. He's hitting .422 with two homers and 13 RBI in 14 August games.
 Chris Coghlan-OF - Marlins Aug. 9 - 5:34 pm et

Chris Coghlan garnered four hits against the Phillies on Sunday to extend his multi-hit streak to eight games.
Coghlan doubled once and singled for his other three hits. He also added two runs scored and a pair of RBI. The eight-game streak is a Marlin record and has raised Coghlan's average from .252 to .285. Due to his second base eligibility he's worth using in most leagues at the moment.
