Josh Outman, who underwent Tommy John surgery in late June, began a throwing program last week in St. Louis.
Tommy John recovery times for vary for pitchers, but usually range from 12-18 months. He's on the right track and hopes to be ready for big league action shortly after the All-Star break next season. Outman was 4-1 with a 3.48 ERA in 12 starts this year before injuring his left elbow.

Josh Outman is out 12-18 months after undergoing Tommy John surgery on Tuesday.
He also had a bone spur removed from his left elbow. It's a serious blow to the A's 2010 rotation as Outman had emerged as the staff's best starter early this season. Though Tommy John surgery isn't the career threat it once was, it's a deflating injury for a bright young pitcher.

Josh Outman will undergo elbow surgery Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
Outman visited specialist Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham Monday, but the Athletics haven't revealed whether he's having Tommy John surgery or not. Either way, he's done for a while and possibly for the season.

Athletics transferred LHP Josh Outman from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
The San Francisco Chronicle says Tommy John surgery is a possibility, which is a real shame. Outman was beginning to look like a top-of-the-rotation starter for the A's.

Josh Outman is expected to visit Dr. James Andrews Monday for a second opinion on his injured elbow.
Right now it's being diagnosed as a left elbow sprain, but Dr. Andrews will surely give his two cents on the matter.

Athletics placed LHP Josh Outman on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left elbow.
Just as we suspected, Gio Gonzalez will be called on to take his spot in the starting rotation. Outman underwent an MRI on Wednesday that must have revealed some troubling results. We'll update as soon as we get more information.
