The Astros and OF Michael Bourn avoided arbitration on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $2.4 million contract.
The 27-year-old Bourn was a menace on the basepaths last season, leading the National League with 61 steals while batting .285/.354/.384 with three homers, 12 triples, 27 doubles and 97 runs scored. He won't knock in many runs, but if he continues to handle lefties, there's no reason he can't be an elite top-of-the-order spark plug for the foreseeable future.

Michael Bourn was 3-for-5 with a triple, two stolen bases and two runs scored in a win over the Marlins on Wednesday night.
Bourn continues to burn his way through 2009, hitting his league-best 11th triple and swiping two more bags, to give him 46 for the year, again tops in the National League. He has even moved into the top 10 with 78 runs scored. The improved plate discipline is nice, but his speed makes him a must-have in fantasy leagues.

Michael Bourn returned to the starting lineup on Sunday after missing three games with a strained left groin.
He went 0-for-3 with a walk, scored a run, and made an error in the field. He's fine to activate again if you were playing him before the injury.

Bourn left Tuesday's contest after suffering the injury. It's not considered serious, but groin injuries can linger. Jason Michaels will man center field until he is back to full strength.

Michael Bourn was ejected from Saturday's game after slamming his helmet to the ground falling a call at second base.
Bourn was clearly safe sliding into second on a stolen base attempt and voiced his displeasure with the "out" call. Jason Michaels will fill in at center field and atop the Astros' lineup.

Michael Bourn swiped three bases and scored both Astros runs in Saturday's loss.
