Ryan Garko hasn't started since September 6 and has been given just two at-bats in the Giants' last nine games.
Garko is batting just .232/.291/.347 in 95 at-bats since joining the Giants. Manager Bruce Bochy has slid Pablo Sandoval over to first base to ensure that hot-hitting Juan Uribe remains in the lineup. "Believe me, I feel for him," Bochy said Wednesday. "He's really not getting the opportunity he should... But the guys getting the lion's share of the playing time are the guys I'm running out there."

Ryan Garko finished hit two home runs for a total of four RBI Saturday in a losing effort against the Rockies.
Garko struggled in his first few weeks with San Francisco, but seems to be catching fire. The homers were his first as a Giant and catapulted his National League RBI total to 12. He's batting .239.

Ryan Garko was 2-for-4 with four RBI -- including a go-ahead two-run double -- in an extra-inning win over the Reds on Tuesday night.
Entering play on Tuesday, Garko had struggled since joining the Giants, batting just .208 with four RBI, but this was his coming-out party. He had a two-run single to tie the game in the sixth and then slugged a two-run double in the 10th to put the Giants ahead for good.

Garko provides a substantial offensive upgrade over Travis Ishikawa, especially against left-handed hitters. The 28-year-old was batting .285/.362/.464 in Cleveland with 11 home runs and 39 RBI. He's cheap, and under team control through 2012. Garko might not be the answer to San Francisco's offensive struggles, but he'll no doubt help.

According to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse, the Giants have acquired first baseman Ryan Garko from the Indians for LHP Scott Barnes.
The Giants have been eyeing a first baseman to replace Travis Ishikawa, and Garko is a nice fit. The 28-year old is batting .285/.362/.464 this season with 11 home runs and 39 RBI. He's a force against left-handed pitchers and is under team control through 2012. Barnes, 21, has gone 12-3 with a 2.85 ERA and a 99/29 K/BB ratio in 18 starts (99 innings) for Single-A San Jose.
