Mets recalled 1B/OF Nick Evans from Triple-A Buffalo.
Evans was one of the most likely call-ups in September anyway, so the Mets essentially recalled him a week early. The 23-year-old had a .250/.298/.409 line with one home run and six RBI in a stint with the big club earlier this season. He batted .231/.302/.430 with 13 homers and 39 RBI between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Buffalo.

 Nick Evans-OF - Mets Jul. 11 - 3:01 pm et

Mets optioned 1B/OF Nick Evans to Triple-A Buffalo.
Evans was originally supposed to be sent down on Friday, but with the trade of Ryan Church, the Mets called him back. Evans struck out in a pinch-hit appearance against the Reds on Friday. He'll make room for Jeff Francoeur on the roster.

Mets optioned 1B/LF Nick Evans to Triple-A Buffalo.
Evans had been hitting .256, but was largely redundant with Fernando Tatis on the roster. He still projects as a decent regular at some point, but it doesn't look like that point will be 2009. Still, he's a good bet to be recalled when the next Mets injury occurs, and that will likely be soon.
 Nick Evans-OF - Mets Jun. 19 - 4:08 pm et

Mets recalled 1B/OF Nick Evans from Double-A Binghamton.
Evans struggled so mightily in April at Triple-A that he got demoted. But as the Mets should have known, 75 at-bats does not a career make. He's hitting .377 over his last 53 at-bats in Double-A, which is more in line with his production in recent years. He could see a fair amount of playing time, especially if he hits in New York, playing both first base and left field.
 Nick Evans-OF - Mets May. 12 - 6:19 pm et

The Mets have demoted slumping prospect Nick Evans from Triple-A Buffalo to extended spring training.
Evans was hitting .093/.218/.227 on the Triple-A level with 27 strikeouts in 75 at-bats. He displayed a fine show of power and poise at the plate this spring, so his struggles came as a major surprise to most in the Mets' organization. It's probably safe to assume he's dealing with some sort of mental issue.

 Nick Evans-OF - Mets May. 12 - 2:10 pm et

Nick Evans is struggling so much in Triple-A, that the Mets are on the verge of demoting him to Double-A, perhaps even lower.
Evans hit .263/.330/.488 in 80 at-bats in spring training, leading people to question his demotion to Triple-A in favor of Marlon Anderson. Evans hasn't taken to his demotion well as he's struck out 27 times in 75 at-bats for a line of .093/.218/.227. There's clearly something wrong with Evans, and anyone who had him stashed on the bench should feel safe releasing him now.
