 Chris Getz-2B- RoyalsNov. 6 - 1:16 pm et
Royals acquired second baseman Chris Getz and third baseman Josh Fields from the White Sox for infielder-outfielder Mark Teahen and cash considerations.
Another low-cost piece for the Royals, as Dayton Moore acquires him at the league minimum. Getz batted .261/.324/.347 with two homers, 31 RBI and 25 stolen bases during his first full major league season in 2009. It's not yet clear how the Royals intend to use the 26-year-old since he can't touch Alberto Callaspo with the bat, but at least manager Trey Hillman has a lot of moving pieces to work with.

 Mark Teahen-3B - White Sox Nov. 6 - 12:14 am et

The Kansas City Star believes that no Mark Teahen-to-the-White Sox deal has been completed.
None of the players have been informed of the trade, as of yet. The New York Daily News and Chicago Sun-Times both indicated that a deal was done, and there's little reason to doubt that it was essentially agreed to. However, since nothing has become official, it's still possible that one of the two sides will back out.

 Mark Teahen-3B - White Sox Nov. 5 - 10:17 am et

According to Bill Madden of the Daily News, the Royals have agreed to trade Mark Teahen to the White Sox in exchange for Chris Getz and Josh Fields.
If it wasn't a certainty already, this all but guarantees that Jermaine Dye will not return next season. Teahen, 28, batted .271/.325/.408 with 12 home runs and 50 RBI in 2009 and is a .269/.331/.419 lifetime hitter. With the trade of Getz, the White Sox should be in the market for a second or third baseman this winter. In Getz and Fields, the Royals have added two young and inexpensive players with upside. Just who will play third base next season is up for debate. Neither Fields nor Alex Gordon, both former first round picks, have lived up to their initial billing.

 Chris Getz-2B - Royals Sep. 29 - 6:37 pm et

Chris Getz is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on his sports hernia Thursday in Philadelphia.
The injury was discovered a couple of days ago when Getz went in for a checkup on his strained right oblique. "It's not like a serious surgery," Getz said Tuesday. "I mean it's still surgery, but I think the recovery time will take about six weeks before you can start being fully active again." He'll finish the year with a .261 batting average, 49 runs scored and 25 stolen bases.

 Chris Getz-2B - Royals Sep. 1 - 4:48 pm et

White Sox activated second baseman Chris Getz from the 15-day disabled list.
Getz landed on the disabled list in early August with an oblique strain. He went 4-for-15 with three walks over a five-game rehab assignment and is likely to share a lefty-righty platoon with Jayson Nix down the stretch.
