Taylor Tankersley (elbow) is progressing nicely in his throwing program, reports Joe Frisaro of MLB.com.
Tankersley underwent surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left elbow in April, missing the entire 2009 season. "I'll be ready for Spring Training," said the former first-round pick. "I've listened to the doctors and the trainers. I took their approach to get back. My arm is solid now." Tankersley could have an opportunity in 2009 with the Marlins shopping lefty Renyel Pinto.

Taylor Tankersely is scheduled to undergo surgery Friday to repair a stress fracture in his left elbow.
Tankersley was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans near the end of spring training after posting a 20.25 ERA. Clearly there was something wrong with him physically. He will have a few screws inserted into his elbow as part of the procedure and is in danger of missing the entire 2009 season.

Marlins optioned LHP Taylor Tankersley to Triple-A New Orleans.
Tankersley added an exclamation point to a brutal spring by giving up four runs in one-third of an inning today, taking his ERA to 20.25. Dan Meyer is the heavy favorite to become the second lefty in Florida's pen.

Taylor Tankersley was torched for six runs in two-thirds of an inning by the Mets on Sunday.
Tankersley has an option year left, so his chances of making the Marlins have to be close to nil at this point. He's given up 11 runs in 5 1/3 innings. Unless the team spends a little money to pick up someone else, Dan Meyer will probably win a job as the second lefty in the pen.
 Taylor Tankersley-R - Marlins Mar. 6 - 4:51 pm et

Taylor Tankersley gave up three runs in two-thirds of an inning out of the pen versus the Red Sox on Friday.
Tankersley spent most of the final four months of last season in the minors, but he was viewed as the favorite in a competition with Dan Meyer for a spot as the second lefty in the Florida pen this season. As much as his command has regressed, he's a hard guy to count on right now. If they didn't mind dipping into their revenue sharing money, the Marlins could really use Will Ohman or Joe Beimel.
