Chad Reineke allowed four runs over five innings against the Rangers on Wednesday night, taking the no-decision in an eventual 7-5 win.
His first start of the season, Reineke didn't pitch particularly well, allowing seven hits, including two homers, while striking out just one batter. He had a 4.37 ERA with Triple-A Sacramento this season and a 5.00 ERA in four appearances (three starts) with the Padres last season, so don't expect anything special here.

Athletics called up RHP Chad Reineke from Triple-A Sacramento.
Reineke gets the start against Texas on Wednesday, but given a mediocre 4.37 ERA in 94 2/3 innings at Triple-A, he's not likely to make a positive impact in AL-only leagues.

Padres sent RHP Chad Reineke outright to Triple-A Portland.
Reineke was the return last year when the Padres traded Randy Wolf to the Astros. He didn't embarrass himself in three starts and one relief appearance after the deal, giving up 10 runs in 18 innings, so it's rather surprising to see him get cut this early in the spring. He had, however, allowed four runs -- two earned -- in 1 2/3 innings in his two appearances.
