Alfredo Aceves admitted Sunday that his lower back is still bothering him.
"It's not perfect, but I can pitch," Aceves said. "This is my job now. I think I'm going to be fine." The right-hander has allowed 22 hits -- including four home runs — in his last 22 innings. He also has a 7.65 ERA in his last 11 relief appearances. A few consecutive days off may help him right the ship.

Alfredo Aceves, who has been bothered by a sore lower back, was charged with four runs in 1 2/3 innings on Sunday against the Mariners.
Aceves gave up a single and a double while also hitting two batters before departing. It's likely the back injury played a role, and a DL stint is possible.

Alfredo Aceves was questionable Sunday due to a sore lower back.
Aceves threw 37 pitches over three innings Friday against the Red Sox, which may have caused the soreness. It was his longest outing since July 9 when he allowed three earned runs over 3 1/3 innings during a spot start against the Twins. He's hoping to be available Monday against Toronto.

Alfredo Aceves returned to action on Friday and gave up four runs in 1 2/3 innings out of the pen.
Aceves took five days off because of right shoulder discomfort, and if tonight's performance was any indication, he should be on the disabled list right now. It's too bad, because he might have been in line to claim the fifth spot in the rotation.

Alfredo Aceves threw in the bullpen before Wednesday's game and reported no pain or discomfort in his right shoulder.
Aceves hasn't been available since Saturday due to some lingering shoulder soreness. "The lion is back," he said Wednesday, laughing. He should be available, if called on, Thursday against the White Sox.

Alfred Aceves told reporters Tuesday that his right shoulder has been bothering him for the past several days.
Aceves is hoping to pitch through the discomfort, and will play catch Wednesday to gauge his readiness. "I know what kind of pain lets you pitch and what kind of pain don’t let’s you pitch," he said. "This one will let me pitch."
