Mets released LHP Ken Takahashi.
Signed to a minor league deal during spring training, the 40-year-old rookie posted a 2.96 ERA and 23/14 K/BB ratio in 27 1/3 innings with the Mets while spending much of the year at Triple-A. He could latch on elsewhere as a long reliever, but may opt to finish his career back in Japan.

 Ken Takahashi-R - Mets Aug. 24 - 12:08 pm et

Mets recalled LHP Ken Takahashi from Triple-A Buffalo.
Back where he belongs. The 40-year-old Takahashi has posted a solid 3.00 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 14/9 K/BB ratio in 18 innings with the Mets this season. He'll return to a role in middle relief.
 Ken Takahashi-R - Mets Jun. 22 - 3:54 pm et

Mets optioned LHP Ken Takahashi to Triple-A Buffalo.
Signed to a minor league deal near the end of spring training, the 40-year-old Takahashi has posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 14/9 K/BB ratio in 18 innings this season. The Mets are doing a little house cleaning in preparation for the returns of John Maine and Oliver Perez.
 Jon Switzer-R - Mets Jun. 12 - 2:16 pm et

Mets purchased the contract of LHP Jon Switzer from Triple-A Buffalo.
Switzer will be the second lefty out of the pen. Used exclusively that way, he can help the Mets, and your bullpen ERA. The Mets need a second lefty, so he could stick around at Ken Takahashi's expense, since Takahashi is a lefty who can't get lefties out.
 Pat Misch-R - Mets Jun. 5 - 3:59 pm et

Mets claimed LHP Pat Misch off of waivers from the San Francisco Giants.
Misch will report to Triple-A Buffalo. With only Pedro Feliciano as a weapon against lefties -- Ken Takahashi, the second lefty in the New York bullpen, is more effective against righties -- Misch could get a chance at some point this season.
 Jon Niese-S - Mets May. 6 - 10:53 pm et

Jon Niese is scheduled to start Friday against the Blue Jays.
Niese got the nod over Ken Takahashi and a few other seasoned veterans. Niese was 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA in five starts for Triple-A Buffalo this season, but the Mets believe in his ability and wanted to give him this shot. Fantasy owners should play it a bit safer. Maybe throw him on some sort of watch list.
