Infielder Ramiro Pena has replaced Melky Cabrera (hamstring) on the Yankees' World Series roster.
Cabrera strained his left hamstring in Game 4 while trying to beat out a grounder. He will be unavailable for the rest of the series. Pena, a 24-year-old switch hitter, posted a .287/.317/.383 batting line in 115 at-bats with the Yankees this season and offers a bit of speed on the base paths.

 Melky Cabrera-OF - Braves Nov. 2 - 5:04 pm et

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Monday that Melky Cabrera (hamstring) will be replaced on the World Series roster.
It's not yet clear who the Yanks will go with, though the only feasible options are Freddy Guzman, Ramiro Pena and Francisco Cervelli. Cabrera strained his left hamstring Sunday while trying to leg out a grounder.

 Robinson Cano-2B - Yankees Sep. 29 - 5:19 pm et

Robinson Cano is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Royals.
Cano is one of three Yankees' regulars to receive the night off, as Jorge Posada and Melky Cabrera will also take a seat. Ramiro Pena will start at second base, with Jose Molina behind the plate and Brett Gardner in center.

 Ramiro Pena-SS - Yankees Sep. 1 - 3:45 pm et

Yankees recalled infielder Ramiro Pena from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi liked Pena's glove when he was with the big league club earlier this season. He doesn't bring much to the table offensively, though, with a .231/.310/.327 batting line at the Triple-A level.
 Ramiro Pena-SS - Yankees Aug. 21 - 6:00 pm et

Yankees optioned IF Ramiro Pena to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Pena will be back in September to serve as their utility infielder. He is a solid fielder with some passing offensive upside, so it's possible Pena could spend all of next year with the team.
 Derek Jeter-SS - Yankees Aug. 12 - 5:34 pm et

X-rays on Derek Jeter's injured right foot Wednesday came back negative.
This obviously qualifies as good news, though it remains to be seen how much time, if any, the shortstop will miss. The injury -- which resulted from a Ricky Romero breaking ball -- is being called a contusion. Ramiro Pena took over at shortstop Wednesday and figures to start if Jeter is forced to miss any additional time.
