
Manager Kirk Gibson says that the D-backs have "some tricks up our sleeves for September" regarding how they will handle the pitching staff in the final month.
It's not clear what those tricks are, but they're likely to do something to curtain the workload of youngsters like Ian Kennedy, Daniel Hudson and Barry Enright. Kennedy has thrown 151 1/3 innings this year, Enright has thrown a combined 153 between Double-A and the majors, and Hudson has thrown a combined 145 2/3 between Triple-A and the majors.
