Denard Span went 4-for-5 and drove in six runs Saturday as the Twins picked up an 11-6 victory over the Royals.
Span collected his 10th triple in the top of the fourth inning, clearing a loaded basepath in the process. He showed no lingering signs of a concussion and is now batting .311 on the year. The Twins weren't able to gain ground in the AL Central standings because the Tigers also won, but this Minnesota club is on quite a late-season tear.

Span will take the leadoff spot and play center. He'd been recovering from a nasty beaning in the head he got Monday. Carlos Gomez will hit the bench again.

Denard Span (head) will likely return to the lineup on Friday, according to MLB.com's Kelly Thesier.
Span was out of the lineup again on Wednesday. The Twins are off on Thursday, meaning Span, if he returns to the lineup Friday, will have had three days off since getting hit in the head with a pitch on Monday. Carlos Gomez started in center on Wednesday.

La Velle E. Neal of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Denard Span was able to run prior to Tuesday's game and "felt he was slowly coming around" after being hit in the head on Monday.
With an off day approaching Thursday, Neal suggests that the Twins could hold Span out one more game before having him return to the lineup on Friday. Either way, it doesn't sound like Span's return is too far off. Carlos Gomez could be in line for an additional start on Wednesday.
