The Tigers and RHP Zach Miner avoided arbitration Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $950,000 contract.
The deal also includes some performance-based bonuses. Miner, 27, had a 4.29 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 62/45 K/BB ratio in 51 outings last year. He will operate as a long reliever and emergency starter in 2010.

Nate Robertson (pelvic inflammation) is expected to throw an extended bullpen session on Thursday.
If all goes well, Robertson will likely start on Sunday in place of Jarrod Washburn (knee). If Robertson is unable to take the mound on Sunday, Zach Miner could end up getting the call.

An MRI on Jarrod Washburn's left knee Tuesday showed no structural damage.
That doesn't mean he's not in pain. "There's a ton of pressure on the inside of the knee," said Washburn. "It's causing all the irritation... It's definitely not getting any better." Tigers manager Jim Leyland hasn't made a decision as to who will fill in for the veteran left-hander. Zach Miner, according to the skipper, is too valuable to the bullpen.

Rick Porcello will start on Friday against the Rays.
While he is technically being moved up a day, Porcello will still be on his regular four day's rest. Doing so allows Nate Robertson to have three day's rest to start on Saturday for the Tigers after he started on Tuesday for Triple-A Toledo. Robertson is being asked to go five innings and will likely be followed by Zach Miner.

Tigers recalled RHP Eddie Bonine from Triple-A Toledo.
He had a 7.07 ERA in 14 innings over a pair of stints with the team earlier this season. So long as Armando Galarraga is healthy enough to make his next start, Bonine will be slotted into a long relief role. Galarraga is questionable for his start on Sunday. If he can't go, Bonine could start on Friday or Zach Miner could fill in on Sunday.

Armando Galarraga has been scratched from his Wednesday start.
The right-hander has been suffering from a sore throat and fever recently, and perhaps it's best for fantasy owners if he dodges the Red Sox anyway. Zach Miner gets the start in Galarraga's absence on Wednesday.
