Adam Jones, who missed most of September with a sprained left ankle, is "raring to go," says manager Dave Trembley.
Jones will begin his offseason conditioning program at the Athletes' Performance Institute in Arizona on November 30. The newly-crowned Gold Glover batted .277/.335/.457 with 19 homers, 70 RBI, 83 runs scored and 10 stolen bases last season, and enters 2010 with high fantasy expectations.

Mike Fontenot became the final super-two eligible player, MLB announced, winning a tiebreaker with Adam Jones and Micah Owings.
All had two years, 139 days of service time. This is terrific news for the Orioles, who would have spent millions of dollars more over the next few years had Jones been eligible now. Whether it's good news for Fontenot remains to be seen. He's a candidate to be non-tendered by the Cubs, though it's possible someone will want to trade for him. Other super-two players this year include Tim Lincecum, Hunter Pence and Matt Garza. Mark Reynolds barely missed out.

The American League Gold Glove winners were announced on Tuesday, with Adam Jones of the Orioles taking home his first award.
Jones, Torii Hunter and Ichiro make up the outfield while Mark Teixeira, Placido Polanco, Derek Jeter, Evan Longoria comprise the infield. Joe Mauer was recognized as the American League's best receiver while Mark Buehrle captured his first Gold Glove. Longoria is another first-timer. 2009 was the first time Jeter and Teixeira have been recognized with the award since 2006. Jones qualifies as the biggest surprise, as he ranked in the middle of the pack among center fielders with advanced defensive metrics. Franklin Gutierrez of the Mariners has a legitimate gripe here, but these awards aren't the be-all end-all anyways.

Adam Jones reportedly has won the Gold Glove for his work manning centerfield in Baltimore.
The official announcement isn't due for another week or so, but Jones' brother broke the news... on MySpace. Take it with a grain of salt, but if true, he would win it over the more deserving Franklin Gutierrez of Seattle. Jones' UZR fielding rating places him 12th among all centerfielders despite repeated reports of fantastic defense. Gutierrez is first, and it's not even close.

Orioles transferred OF Adam Jones from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list with a sprained left ankle.
In addition to opening up a spot for another player on the 40-man roster, this makes it official that Jones' season is indeed over. He finishes the 2009 campaign with a .277/.335/.457 line along with 19 homers and 70 RBI in 473 at-bats.

Orioles placed OF Adam Jones on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to September 2, with a sprained left ankle.
It's a curious move by the Orioles, unless they intend to place Jones on the 60-day disabled list in order to add another player not currently on the 40-man roster. If Jones is truly done for the season, he finishes the year with a .277/.335/.457 line to go along with 19 homers and 70 RBI, earning his first All-Star nod.
