Dodgers signed RHP Jonathan Broxton to a two-year, $11 million contract.
The new contract buys out Broxton's final two arbitration years. The 25-year-old right-hander will make $4 million in 2010 and $7 million in 2011. He could make up to an additional $500,000 based on games finished and his where he finishes in the Rolaids Relief Man Award standings. Broxton compiled a 2.61 ERA and 0.96 ERA last season while whiffing 114 batters in 76 innings. Entering his second full season as the Dodgers' closer, he's already one of the best lockdown closers in the game.

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that Jonathan Broxton will make $11 million in his new two-year contract with the Dodgers.
Broxton earned $1.825 million last season, and was eligible for arbitration for the second time this offseason, so he gets a sizable raise while providing the Dodgers with some flexibility moving forward. The 25-year-old right-hander put up a 2.61 ERA and 0.96 WHIP last season while striking out 13.5 K/9. He's the best closer the National League has to offer.

Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers and Jonathan Broxton have reached agreement on a two-year contract extension.
The contract is pending a physical and no terms have been announced. Broxton, 25, was one of the most dominant relievers in the game last season, compiling a 2.61 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 36 saves and a ridiculous 114 strikeouts in 76 innings (13.5 K/9). Entering just his second full season as closer in Los Angeles, he's already the best option available in NL-only leagues.

Dodgers manager Joe Torre said Tuesday that he won't hesitate to use Jonathan Broxton in the ninth inning going forward.
Broxton blew a 4-3 ninth-inning lead in Game 4 of the NLCS, putting his team down 3-1 to the Phillies in the best-of-seven series. "In that role," Torre said Tuesday, "there's no gray. Either you succeed or you fail. There's no in-between that you did alright. I think he's alright. The toughest part is, you don't know until he gets [the ball] again."

Jonathan Broxton allowed two earned runs in the bottom of the ninth inning Monday as the Phillies rallied for an NLCS Game 4 victory.
Broxton has struggled on the road all season and had a tough time again Monday at Citizens Bank Park. He entered to a 4-3 lead with two outs in the bottom of the eighth and was able to induce an inning-ending pop-up. But he walked Matt Stairs in the ninth, hit Carlos Ruiz with a pitch, then allowed a game-winning two-run triple to Jimmy Rollins. The Dodgers are now down 3-1 in the series.
 Andre Ethier-OF - Dodgers Sep. 26 - 1:39 pm et

According to the Los Angeles Times, the players who are eligible for salary arbitration in the off-season could cost the Dodgers around $20 million.
The Dodgers will have to give sizable raises to Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp, Chad Billingsley, James Loney, Jonathan Broxton, Russell Martin, George Sherrill and Hong Chih-Kuo. Kemp, Billingsley, Loney and Kou will be eligible for the first time. The Times story cites agents who say that Ethier could expect to make around $7 million while Kemp could make $4 million.
