Pirates agreed to terms with shortstop Ronny Cedeno on a one-year, $1.125 million contract.
The deal is worth slightly less than the $1.25 million figure quoted this morning. He cam make $750,000 in bonuses: $25,000 each for 474. 525 and 550 plate appearances. Cedeno will battle Bobby Crosby for the starting job at shortstop in Pittsburgh.

Ronny Cedeno and the Pirates have reportedly agreed to a $1.25 million contract, avoiding arbitration.
Cedeno hit .258/.307/.394 in 155 at-bats after arriving in town via the Jack Wilson trade. Pirates officials were reportedly not pleased with his production at short and recently inked a one-year deal with former Athletic Bobby Crosby. 27 in January, Cedeno figures to open the season as the starting shortstop.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates are expected to complete a one-year, $1 million deal with Bobby Crosby on Thursday.
The deal would include $500,000 in potential bonus money based on plate appearances. Crosby will battle Ronny Cedeno for the starting shortstop gig in Pittsburgh. The 29-year-old struggled to a .223/.295/.357 batting line in 2009; perhaps a change of scenery will be beneficial.

The Pirates hope to acquire a shortstop to "push" Ronny Cedeno, general manager Neal Huntington revealed Saturday.
"Ronny has so many tools, as we saw, but he needs to maintain his concentration," manager John Russell added. "You got the sense that he wasn't always locked in." Cedeno batted a surprising .258 after coming over from Seattle. He exhibited poor plate discipline, however, and was inconsistent in the field. For now, he's expected to open the season as the Bucs' starting shortstop.

Ronny Cedeno (hamstring strains) is still unable to run and isn't likely to return before the end of the season.
Cedeno hasn't played in a game since September 23 because of injuries to both of his hamstrings. If he is done, the shortstop will finish with a .208/.256/.337 batting line, 10 home runs and 38 RBI in 105 games.

Cedeno hasn't appeared in a game since September 23 because of injuries to both of his hamstrings. He's still unable to run with much intensity and only a week remains in the Pirates' regular season.
