Carlos Quentin reports feeling great and ready to go in 2010.

It's one of many "feeling great" stories we'll see over the next few months. "The foot feels great. The knee feels good. The wrist feels 10 times better having the hardware out. The old injuries that were in the past feel great," said Quentin, who is coming back from wrist surgery after a MVP-caliber 2008 season. He'll be the everyday right fielder and the White Sox need him to be a force in the middle of the order to compete.

White Sox agreed to terms with outfielder Carlos Quentin on a one-year, $3.2 million contract.

Quentin followed up an MVP-caliber campaign in 2008 by hitting .236/.323/.456 in 351 at-bats during an injury-plagued 2009. He'll be coming back from wrist surgery this year, but he's still a pretty good bet to be a solid mixed-league outfielder. It's his history of injuries that will hold down his value on draft day.

Mark Gonzalez of the Chicago Tribune reports that Carlos Quentin underwent successful surgery to remove a pin from his surgically-repaired right wrist.

In addition to the procedure on the wrist, Quentin had his left foot re-examined. Quentin was sidelined for nearly two months due to plantar fasciitis. The doctor found no problems with the foot and he was cleared to proceed with his offseason conditioning program once his wrist is healed. He should begin swinging a bat within 30 days. The 27-year-old slugger hopes to be lighter on his feet headed into 2010. He batted .236/.323/.456 with 21 homers and 56 RBI in 351 at-bats this season.

Carlos Quentin homered and drove in four runs against the Tigers on Sunday.

Quentin hit an RBI double in the second, then added a three-run blast in the eighth. A strong finish would do wonders for Quentin's value next season, but he's batting a modest .263-4-18 thus far in September.

Jermaine Dye is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Twins.

Alex Rios will start in right field, with Scott Podsednik in center and Carlos Quentin in left. Dye had a monster first half, but is batting just .168/.276/.260 with five home runs and 19 RBI in 196 at-bats since the All-Star break. The White Sox were unlikely to bring him back next season anyway, but his lack of production in the second half makes it a virtual certainty.

Carlos Quentin went 2-for-4 with a grand slam as the White Sox routed the Royals 13-3 on Saturday evening in Chicago.

The White Sox fell behind 3-1 early with starter Jake Peavy hitting a few rough patches in his debut, but Quentin helped build a rally and the White Sox exploded for 11 runs over the game's final five frames. Quentin is batting just .235 this season, but lifted his home run total to 17 and his RBI total to 45.
