Lastings Milledge acknowledged that an injury to his right hand limited his power in 2009.
"The hand was healed, but it took a while to start getting the strength back," Milledge said. "A lot of it's back now, and it was coming back late in the season. They told me all along it was going to take about a full year for it to be all the way back, so that would be just in time for next season." Milledge missed two months with a right hand injury and batted .291/.333/.395 with four home runs, 20 RBI and six stolen bases in 220 at-bats after joining the Pirates. Fantasy owners hope he can finally deliver on his 20-20 potential in 2010.

 Lastings Milledge-OF - Pirates Oct. 2 - 10:01 pm et

Lastings Milledge was 2-for-4 with a homer and a stolen base in a win over the Reds on Friday night.
Milledge gave rookie Daniel McCutchen some insurance with a solo blast in the fourth. He is batting .299 with four homers, 20 RBI and six stolen bases since coming over from the Nationals. Milledge is already talking about playing in the postseason in 2010, but he should be more focused about hanging onto a starting job in the majors.

Lastings Milledge hit a walk-off two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Pirates defeated the Dodgers 6-5 on Sunday.
It was a bad game for closers as Matt Capps gave up three runs in the top of the ninth and Jonathan Broxton coughed up four runs in the bottom of the inning. Milledge made up for stranding five runners between his previous four at-bats by singling to right to score two runs and tie the game at 5-5. However, right fielder Andre Ethier allowed the ball to go under his glove for an error and thus Garrett Jones to score the winning run.

Lastings Milledge had two more hits, including an RBI double, on Saturday to raise his average to .300.
Milledge is red hot. About the only way to cool him off would be to have him sacrifice bunt in the ninth inning of a tie game. Which he did, of course. After Garrett Jones singled to start the ninth, manager John Russell had Milledge bunt against Blake Hawksworth, even though there were a bunch of .230 hitters coming up behind him. He got the bunt down, then watched as Steve Pearce and Ronny Cedeno made outs to end the frame with the bases loaded. The Pirates, appropriately, ended up losing in 10 innings.

The Pirates have been pleased with the play and attitude of Lastings Milledge since his call-up on July 31.
Milledge came over to Pittsburgh with a bit of extra baggage after causing problems in Washington and New York. "He's been great, very attentive, very vocal with his teammates in a good way... he's signing autographs, he's just very pleasant," manager John Russell said. "I have absolutely seen nothing other than determination and drive on the field and working hard." Good to hear. The outfielder is 9-for-41 with a double, five RBI and a stolen base.

 Lastings Milledge-OF - Pirates Jul. 31 - 9:51 pm et

Lastings Milledge was 2-for-4 with two RBI in his Pirates' debut on Friday night, in a win against his former team the Nationals.
Milledge had RBI singles in the third and seventh innings. As general manager Neil Huntington said, Milledge will be given every chance to be a regular in the Pirates lineup. With his appealing combination of speed and power, he's worthy of a pick-up in NL-only leagues and deeper mixed league formats, too.
