 Yorvit Torrealba-C - Rockies Sep. 5 - 6:20 pm et

Yorvit Torrealba has been named the starting catcher for the Rockies.
Interim manager Jim Tracy confirmed the news. The Rockies feel that Torrealba playing better defense than Iannetta (usually the defensive guru of the two). In addition, Iannetta has a .625 OPS over the last 14 days while Torrealba has a .833 OPS over the same span. Iannetta still remains the long-term catcher in Colorado, but there's nothing wrong with riding the hot hand... as long as the Rockies don't hesitate to switch back when it's time.

 Paul Phillips-C - Rockies Sep. 1 - 8:58 am et

Rockies recalled catcher Paul Phillips from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Rockies manager Jim Tracy took a liking to Phillips when he was up with the club in June. Perhaps that had something to do with the 32-year-old's .325/.391/.450 batting line. Still, he won't steal playing time from Chris Iannetta as Colorado chases the National League Wild Card crown.
 Chris Iannetta-C - Rockies Aug. 21 - 9:04 am et

Chris Iannetta was given the night off Thursday and might sit out Friday as he battles through a late-season slump.
Iannetta went 1-for-13 on the Rockies' recent road trip and is hitting just .195 in the month of August. Yorvit Torrealba started in his place Thursday night and could do the same Friday. The Rockies, two games up in the Wild Card standings, are about to begin a crucial three-game set with the Giants.

 Chris Iannetta-C - Rockies Jul. 31 - 10:32 pm et

Chris Iannetta hit a go-ahead home run in a win over the Reds on Friday night.
Iannetta and Carlos Gonzalez went back-to-back off of reliever David Weathers to give the Rockies a 5-3 lead. With a .226 batting average in 212 at-bats this season, Iannetta was at least contributing in the power department through April and May, but since returning from the disabled list on June 9, Iannetta has just four home runs.
 Chris Iannetta-C - Rockies Jun. 9 - 7:35 pm et

Rockies activated catcher Chris Iannetta from the 15-day disabled list.
Iannetta is starting and batting eighth against the Brewers Tuesday. Though his batting average was down before suffering the hamstring injury, he was showing impressive power and patience while posting an .859 OPS.
