Cubs signed LHP Casey Fossum to a minor-league contract.
Fossum will report to Triple-A Iowa. He was ineffective in his brief time with the Mets, but has a 2.92 ERA in 61 2/3 Triple-A innings with Buffalo and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He could help a major-league bullpen.

According to the Scranton Times-Tribune, left-hander Casey Fossum has opted out of his contract with the Yankees.
Fossum is now officially a free agent. The 31-year-old had a 3.38 ERA and 43/16 K/BB ratio for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but didn't have a clear future with the big league club. He'll look for an opportunity with another team.

The Yankees have reportedly signed lefty Casey Fossum and plan to start him at Triple-A Scranton Saturday.
Fossum was designated for assignment by the Mets in late April. The Yankees are hoping he can eventually give them some left-handed help out of the bullpen.

The Mets designated Fossum for assignment just a few days ago after he allowed one run on four hits in 3 1/3 innings of work. There are a couple of clubs, desperate for left-handed bullpen arms, that may give him a look.

Fossum served up one run on four hits in 3 1/3 innings of work in a short time with the Mets. He was dropped in order to make room for Ken Takahashi.

Mets purchased the contract of LHP Casey Fossum from Triple-A Syracuse.
