Red Sox acquired LHP Kason Gabbard from the Rangers for cash considerations.
Gabbard has struggled to a 10.50 ERA at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season as he continues to recover from elbow surgery. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that he's been assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket and will be sent to extended spring training.

Rangers sent LHP Kason Gabbard outright to Triple-A Oklahoma.
Gabbard was the Rangers' best pitcher at the beginning of last season, but the team declined to consider him for a rotation spot this spring as he returned from his elbow surgery and then quickly ruled him out of the mix for a bullpen spot. That he cleared waivers suggests that no one believes he'll be able to stay healthy for any length of time.

Rangers optioned LHP Kason Gabbard and RHP Thomas Diamond to Triple-A Oklahoma; optioned 2B Jose Vallejo, RHP Guillermo Moscoso and RHP Omar Poveda to Double-A Frisco; Reassigned RHP Casey Daigle, C Manuel Pina and C Kevin Richardson to minor league camp.
Gabbard figured to be one of the Rangers' seven relievers, but he had been limited to just one appearance this spring as he recovers from elbow surgery. The Rangers will still have C.J. Wilson and Eddie Guardado as left-handed relievers.

Kason Gabbard (elbow) threw a two-inning simulated game Wednesday and is scheduled to start Friday against the Royals.
"I feel awesome," Gabbard said. "I felt strong, and that's all I can go on right now."
