Indians general manager Mark Shapiro said Monday that Scott Lewis has been "the most consistent of the group" of the pitchers vying for the fifth starter's job.
Shapiro is hoping to make his decision soon, but Lewis seems to have the edge over his competition, Aaron Laffey, Jeremy Sowers, Zach Jackson and Kirk Saarloos. "He's pounded the strike zone. Commanded his fastball," said Shapiro of Lewis. "He's shown the ability to throw his breaking ball for strikes as well." |
