Phil Dumatrait (shoulder) is scheduled to pitch out of the Triple-A Indianapolis bullpen on Wednesday night.
The next step after that is for the Pirates to determine whether or not Dumatrait is ready to join the big league club, and according to manager John Russell, Dumatrait could start one game of an Aug. 31 doubleheader against the Reds. Out since having shoulder surgery in April, the 28-year-old had a 5.26 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 78 2/3 innings for the Pirates last season. Source: MLBlogs.com
