According to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Andy Martino, the Phillies and free agent reliever Ron Mahay share some mutual interest.
Mahay is also taking phone calls from the Red Sox. The 38-year-old managed a combined 4.29 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 42/22 K/BB ratio in 50 1/3 innings this past season while bouncing between the Royals and Twins. The left-hander made $4 million in 2009 and can probably expect a dip in pay.

Twins signed LHP Ron Mahay to a one-year contract.
Mahay and his $4 million salary cleared waivers after being designated for assignment by the Royals and the Twins will pay him a prorated share of the league minimum to serve as the bullpen's second left-hander.
 Ron Mahay-R - Twins Aug. 28 - 2:13 pm et

The Twins are close to acquiring LHP Ron Mahay from the Royals, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
No word on the return yet. Mahay had been designated for assignment this week and the Twins were a rumored suitor. He'd be a decent companion to Jose Mijares, who has been dealing but is currently the only southpaw in the Twins' pen now that Brian Duensing is in the rotation. The 38-year-old Mahay hasn't been nearly as efficient against lefties this season as ones previous, but if he can put it together and avoid righties he'll be a nice piece for the Twins down the stretch.

 Ron Mahay-R - Twins Aug. 24 - 4:52 pm et

Royals designated LHP Ron Mahay for assignment.
The 38-year-old was 1-1 with a 4.79 ERA in 41 relief appearances this season. Last season he was 5-0 with a 3.48 ERA in 57 games. Mahay may have to settle for a minor league contract initially, but he could be a second or third left-hander in some team's September bullpen.
 Kyle Farnsworth-R - Royals Apr. 6 - 7:14 pm et

Kyle Farnsworth will be the Royals setup man to start the season, according to manager Trey Hillman.
Hillman mentioned that Juan Cruz and Ron Mahay can also fill that role, but the job is Farnsworth's to lose for now. It was a tale of two seasons for Farnsworth last year who posted a 3.65 ERA in 44 1/3 innings with the Yankees before being dealt to the Tigers where he posted a 6.75 ERA in 16 innings. He looks like the pitcher he was in the Bronx, which will complement nicely with lights out closer Joakim Soria.
