Astros exercised RHP Brian Moehler's 2010 option worth $3 million.
Moehler, a 37-year-old right-hander, went 8-12 with a 5.47 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 29 starts this season with the Astros. He averaged only 5 1/3 innings per outing over the course of the season, and struggled mightily down the stretch. He should be avoided in nearly every fantasy draft next spring.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the Astros have picked up Brian Moehler's 2010 option worth $3 million.
It was a mutual option, so Moehler has the right to decline it, but that would be a shocker. The right-hander went just 8-12 this season and posted a 5.12 ERA. Oh, and he also underwent knee surgery last earlier this week. He won't find a better salary on the open market.

Brian Moehler underwent surgery on his right knee Monday.
The procedure was required to repair a torn meniscus that Moehler suffered back in May. He finished the '09 season with an 8-12 record and 5.12 ERA, and is expected to be fine for the start of spring training next season.

Brian Moehler was hammered for seven runs over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Wednesday night.
Moehler was smacked around for six hits, including four runs in the fourth. His season comes to a close at 8-12 with a 5.12 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over 29 starts. The 37-year-old will undergo surgery on his right knee during the offseason, but the Astros are very likely to bring him back as a member of their rotation in 2010.

Brian Moehler allowed just one earned run over six innings Saturday, but was left with a no-decision in an eventual loss to the Brewers.
Moehler looked sharp, surrendering five hits and two walks while striking out three. He has only a few starts left before knee surgery, and will try to make the most of them. The 37-year-old right-hander carries a 4.86 ERA and 1.49 WHIP into his next outing against the Reds.

Brian Moehler will undergo knee surgery this offseason.
"I'm just going to have it cleaned out," Moehler said Tuesday. "It's been bothering me since the beginning of the year. It's there. It's nothing major, but I just need to clean it up." The 37-year-old is 8-10 this season with a 5.01 ERA and 1.50 WHIP.
