The Athletics are interested in re-signing Adam Kennedy, reports Mychael Urban of MLB.com.
Eric Chavez is coming off back surgery and top-prospect Brett Wallace may not be ready for the majors, so the Athletics would be interested in bringing Kennedy back as an insurance policy. Kennedy, 33, was a valuable contributor for the Athletics in 2009, batting .289/.348/.410 with 11 home runs and 63 RBI, while playing mostly at second and third base. According to the report, Kennedy has expressed interest in returning and the Athletics have already spoken with his representatives.

Adam Kennedy, an impending free agent, said Thursday that he's interested in returning to the A's for 2010.
Kennedy plans to file for free agency one day after the World Series ends, but Oakland plans to make an aggressive push to retain him. "The ball is in their court," said A's assistant general manager, David Forst. "We let them know we're interested in bringing Adam back." Kennedy hit .289/.348/.410 with 11 homers, 63 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 129 games with the A's this season.

Adam Kennedy was ejected in the bottom of the first inning Tuesday for arguing balls and strikes.
Kennedy took offense to a called third strike and got himself tossed. He's hitting .291/.351/.416 with 11 homers and 59 RBI on the year.

Adam Kennedy went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and three RBI against the Indians on Sunday.
Kennedy was a well below average regular in June, July and August, but he's coming up with a big finish as he heads off into free agency. He's hitting .400 with 10 walks, 15 runs scored and 10 RBI through 15 games this month. The surge should do a lot for his chances of entering 2010 as some team's starting second baseman.

Adam Kennedy was 5-for-7 with a double and three RBI in a wild extra-inning win over the Red Sox on Tuesday night.
Kennedy's RBI single in the 11th ended up being the difference in the ballgame. With a .295/.349/.425 line, Kennedy has been one of the more pleasant surprises in the majors this season. After a .218 showing in June, Kennedy is hitting at an even .300 clip through 100 at-bats in July.
 Eric Patterson-OF - Athletics Jul. 24 - 3:46 pm et

Athletics recalled 2B Eric Patterson from Triple-A Sacramento.
He replaces the departed Matt Holliday on the roster. Patterson is crushing Triple-A pitching, with a line of .326/.392/.523. He deserves a shot at regular playing time, and it would be surprising if Oakland didn't see what it has in Patterson at second base. Despite his solid year, Adam Kennedy isn't the future there.
