Justin Verlander picked up his 14th win despite allowing four runs in 5 2/3 innings Monday against the Angels.
Verlander pitched five scoreless innings before the Angels got to him in the sixth and knocked him out of the game. It was 10-0 entering the bottom of the inning, but the Tigers ended up holding on to win 10-7. Verlander must not have liked Gerald Laird's signals during the latter stages of the outing because the two had a spat in the dugout afterwards. Maybe we'll see Alex Avila catch Verlander next time out.
