Gerald Laird was arrested Wednesday night following a brawl in "the lounge area of Phoneix's NBA arena," according to the Associated Press.
Laird was cited for assault and his 22-year-old brother Brandon was cited for disorderly conduct after the two engaged in a scuffle with arena security guards. It's not clear if they will face further punishment. Brandon is a highly thought of prospect in the Yankees' farm system and played this year for the Surprise Rafters of the Arizona Fall League.

According to FOXSports.com, the Tigers are open to listening to offers this winter for catcher Gerald Laird.
The Tigers are faced with a payroll that doesn't match their revenue base and are looking to dump some salary. Laird hit .225/.306/.320 in 413 at-bats last season while earning $2.8 million. He's expected to land closer to $4 million for the upcoming season through salary arbitration.

Gerald Laird was ejected from Thursday's game against the Twins in the ninth inning.
It was unclear exactly what Laird did. He was the catcher when Jeremy Bonderman intentionally drilled Delmon Young to begin the top of the ninth. That was a response to Jose Mijares throwing behind Adam Everett the previous inning. The festivities all started when Marcus Thames was hit by a pitch in the fourth and then did a wild and very dangerous slide into second base on a potential double-play ball.
 Justin Verlander-S - Tigers Aug. 25 - 1:54 am et

Justin Verlander picked up his 14th win despite allowing four runs in 5 2/3 innings Monday against the Angels.
Verlander pitched five scoreless innings before the Angels got to him in the sixth and knocked him out of the game. It was 10-0 entering the bottom of the inning, but the Tigers ended up holding on to win 10-7. Verlander must not have liked Gerald Laird's signals during the latter stages of the outing because the two had a spat in the dugout afterwards. Maybe we'll see Alex Avila catch Verlander next time out.
 Gerald Laird-C - Tigers Jun. 27 - 7:59 pm et

Gerald Laird left Saturday's game in the first inning with lower back spasms.
His availability is being called "day-to-day." Dusty Ryan replaced him behind the plate and will probably be asked to start on Sunday.
