Bobby Jenks appeared at the annual SoxFest event in good shape, according to Scot Gregor of the Arlington Heights Daily Herald.
"He looks the best I've ever seen him," said general manager Kenny Williams. "I'm really proud of this guy. We're in a good place with Bobby Jenks." This was one of the more predictable "best shape of my life storylines" headed into Spring Training after the conflict between the organization and their closer during the offseason, but Gregor notes that the 28-year-old Jenks appears 20 pounds lighter than last season. Considering he really didn't have such a bad year in '09, this is encouraging news for White Sox fans and fantasy owners alike.

White Sox agreed to terms with RHP Bobby Jenks on a one-year, $7.5 million contract.
Jenks, who has already suffered some verbal abuse at the hands of the White Sox over the last few months, decided to take a $1.9 million raise rather than take his chances in arbitration. With no trade on the horizon, he'll be back as the team's closer. Still, he's not going to have a big margin for error with Matt Thornton and J.J. Putz in reserve.

White Sox GM Kenny Williams confirmed Friday that Bobby Jenks will remain the club's closer, despite the recent acquisition of J.J. Putz.
Putz had an ugly 5.22 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in '09, so the idea should have never come up in the first place. Jenks, 28, posted a 3.71 ERA and an 8.27 K/9 this season while collecting 29 saves. "Obviously, Bobby is the closer," Williams said. "(Matt) Thornton can do a little bit of both, and now you have J.J. who also can do that. And everyone fills in behind them."

ESPN.com's Buster Olney has heard that the White Sox are indeed shopping closer Bobby Jenks at this week's Winter Meetings.
The White Sox have a few relievers who could step into the ninth-inning role, including Matt Thornton, who posted a 10.82 K/9 in 2009 and a 2.74 ERA. GM Kenny Williams has voiced concerns about Jenks' conditioning and they weren't overwhelmed with his performance this past season. The 28-year-old collected just 29 saves in 35 opportunities in '09.

White Sox GM Ken Williams said Friday that he's not shopping Bobby Jenks.
Jenks and Williams have exchanged words through the media this offseason about the closer's conditioning, but the White Sox like having him in the ninth inning and apparently have no desire to trade him this winter. Jenks, 28, posted a 3.71 ERA and an 8.27 K/9 this season while collecting 29 saves.

According to FOXSports.com, teams are waiting out the White Sox regarding closer Bobby Jenks.
"He's not worth what he'll make in arb, but he's not a giveaway, either," said one general manager. Teams are hoping general manager Ken Williams will blink as the non-tender deadline approaches on December 12th. Jenks would make roughly $8 million in arbitration, but according to the report, should they cut him loose, the Astros and Rays, among others, would be interested in the 28-year-old right-hander.
