Brian Duensing will be available out of the bullpen for Game 3 against the Yankees on Sunday.
Duensing yielded five runs over 4 2/3 innings in Wednesday's Game 1 loss to the Yankees. The 26-year-old southpaw would be the first arm out of the bullpen if Carl Pavano falters against his former club. Manager Ron Gardenhire plans to start Scott Baker and Nick Blackburn if the Twins are able to keep their season alive.

 Nick Blackburn-S - Twins Oct. 9 - 10:36 pm et

Nick Blackburn limited the Yankees to one earned run over 5 2/3 innings on Friday but the Twins dropped Game 2 of the ALDS in extra innings.
Blackburn was brilliant through the first five frames of the game, holding the Yanks to no hits and fanning three. He faltered a bit in the sixth, and closer Joe Nathan eventually blew the game in the bottom of the ninth. The Twins are down 0-2 in the first-round series.
 Carl Pavano-S - Twins Oct. 7 - 9:20 pm et

Carl Pavano will start Game Three of the American League Division Series against the Yankees, according to pitching coach Rick Anderson.
This means that Scott Baker will get the call in Game Four. Pavano is 8-4 with a 4.64 ERA in 12 starts since coming over from the Indians in August. It was previously announced that Nick Blackburn would start Game Two on Friday.

 Nick Blackburn-S - Twins Oct. 3 - 7:35 pm et

Nick Blackburn limited the Royals to two earned runs over seven innings Saturday as the Twins picked up a 5-4 win and moved within a half-game of the Tigers in the AL Central.
Blackburn didn't allow a run until the seventh inning and struck out five batters without allowing a walk in the gutsy performance. The first-place Tigers play host to the White Sox this evening. With a loss, we'll have a tie in the American League Central standings.
 Jeff Manship-S - Twins Oct. 1 - 6:01 pm et

Manager Ron Gardenhire has his weekend rotation set up to be Jeff Manship, Nick Blackburn and Brian Duensing.
If the Twins are still in contention come Sunday, Duensing may be bumped for Carl Pavano on short rest. If the Twins get knocked out by Saturday, Blackburn would only go a few innings. It's a rotation very much in flux.

 Nick Blackburn-S - Twins Sep. 30 - 9:06 pm et

Nick Blackburn may be asked to start on three day's rest Saturday against the Royals.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire will not make an announcement about the weekend rotation until his team finishes up their pivotal series against the Tigers. Blackburn is willing to move up and the move is logical so long as the club is still in contention for the AL Central pennant. The 27-year-old right-hander has never started on three day's rest in his career.
