Mark Martin wins the Coors Light Pole Award for the Daytona 500 with a lap of 47.074 seconds, 191.188 mph.
This is his 49th pole in 759 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races. He is now tied with Bobby Isaac for eighth on the all-time poles list. Mark Martin, at 51 years, 27 days, is the oldest Daytona 500 pole winner. The previous oldest was Dale Jarrett, who was 48 years, 2 months, 17 days when he won the Daytona 500 pole in 2005. -NASCAR PR

Mark Martin will debut the new black, green and orange No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet in Saturday's Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway.
This Saturday, Martin will make his 22nd career start in the Shootout, the most of any current, full-time Sprint Cup driver. He finished eighth in the 2008 Shootout, his most recent start in the event. Martin qualifies for the 2010 Shootout because he was a 2009 Chase contender as well as the winner of the 1999 Bud Shootout. Atlanta Motor Speedway’s 2010 NASCAR season kicked off at 9:31 a.m. (Jan. 12) when Mark Martin took to the high-banked track to begin two days of tire testing by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. to determine the premier tire for the Kobalt Tools 500 on March 7.
Four NASCAR veterans – Martin, Carl Edwards, Sam Hornish, Jr., and Martin Truex, Jr. – are assisting Goodyear with testing at Atlanta Motor Speedway where Martin posted the fastest lap with a time 29.938 (185.183). Martin’s time of 29.938 seconds was faster than Truex, Jr.’s qualifying lap of 30.106 (184.149 mph) for September’s Pep Boys Auto 500. He nearly matched his pole-winning performance for last March’s Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway when he posted a 29.640 (187.045). -NASCAR Media

Mark Martin is one of the four drivers participating in offseason tire testing at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The four top teams preparing are for the Kobalt Tools 500. Martin, Carl Edwards, Sam Hornish, Jr. and Martin Truex, Jr. will participate in two days of testing for Goodyear on January 12 and 13. The test is closed to the public and will aid Goodyear in determining the paramount tire for Atlanta Motor Speedway’s March 7 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. -NASCAR Media

In nine Cup starts at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Mark Martin has posted four top-five finishes, including the runner-up spot in the 2005 Sprint Cup finale.
In his last three races at Homestead, he has spent almost 70 percent of the time (558 of a possible 802 laps) inside the top 15. Martin, who ran part-time schedules in 2007 and 2008, did not compete in the final race of the 2008 Sprint Cup season at Homestead. In 2007, he drove his Chevrolet to a ninth-place finish, scoring his fifth top-10 result at the intermediate track. -Hendrick Motorsports

Mark Martin won the April event at Phoenix International Raceway, marking his first Sprint Cup victory in 98 starts.
The win was his first of five this season and made him the fourth driver older than 50 to win in NASCAR's elite series. He started the April 18, 2009, race from the pole position and led 157 laps on his way to Victory Lane. It was his second career win at Phoenix.
