Jeff Burton leads the first practice for the February 6th Budweiser Shootout at the Daytona International Speedway.
Burton’s lap of 193.303 mph in the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet was the quickest of the 23 cars out on the track for the first practice leading to Saturday night’s non-points race. No. 1 Jamie McMurray, No. 18 Kyle Busch, No. 51 Michael Waltrip and No. 5 Mark Martin were the rest of the top 5 on the speed chart. No. 71 Bobby Labonte, at 186.896 mph, was the slowest in this session.

In four Budweiser Shootout starts at the 2.5-mile Daytona superspeedway, Jeff Burton boasts one top-five and two top-10 efforts.
His best finish of fifth came in 2001 after taking the green flag 16th. The veteran driver also has a 13th-place average starting position and a 14.25 average finish. Todd Berrier, Burton's crew chief, is the Budweiser Shootout’s defending race winning crew chief. Berrier visited Victory Lane last season when driver Kevin Harvick captured the 2009 Budweiser Shootout victory.

The No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet and race hauler will be on display in front of the New York Stock Exchange today in celebration of Caterpillar's 80th anniversary of being listed on Wall Street.
To mark the occasion, Caterpillar chairman and CEO Jim Owens will ring the opening bell. Caterpillar has a display in front of the NYSE that includes a mini hydraulic excavator and a multi terrain loader. The No. 31 Chevrolet driven by Jeff Burton during the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season is also part of the display. -Richard Childress Racing

Jeff Burton leads the first practice session for the November 21st Nationwide Series Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Burton’s lap of 166.584 mph in the No. 29 Chevrolet was quickest of the 52 cars out on the track for this session. No. 60 Carl Edwards, No. 11 Denny Hamlin, No. 99 Scott Speed and No. 18 Kyle Busch were the rest of the top 5 on the speed chart. Kenny Hendrick, in the No. 61 Ford, at 156.584 mph, was the slowest.

In 10 starts at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Jeff Burton boasts three top-five and four top-10 finishes.
Although he has yet to capture a Sprint Cup Series victory at the Sunshine State facility, the South Boston, Va., native has two Nationwide Series checkered flags on his Homestead resume (1998 and 2007). The 21-time Sprint Cup Series race winner has been running at the end of all 10 events held at HMS and has completed 98.1 percent of the laps contested. -Richard Childress Racing

Todd Berrier, crew chief on the No. 31 CAT Financial Chevrolet driven by Jeff Burton in the Sprint Cup Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway wins the Moog Problem Solver of the Race award.
The award is presented to the crew chief whose team finishes in the top 10 and posts the largest increase in average lap speed (0.139 seconds) from the first half to second half of a race. Burton is currently 17th in the 2009 Sprint Cup point standings after his 2nd place finish in the race.
