Wolves GM David Kahn said the team "absolutely" will not make a major trade before the Feb. 18 deadline.
"Firm as firm can be," said Kahn. "We will not move one of the big people in the next 10 days. It would be a mistake of epic proportions." That probably means the Wolves will finish the season with a core of Al Jefferson, Kevin Love, Jonny Flynn, Ramon Sessions, Corey Brewer and Ryan Gomes.

 Al Jefferson-F/C - Timberwolves Jan. 29 - 11:27 pm et

Al Jefferson scored 12 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to help hold off a late Clippers' charge in the Wolves' 111-97 win on Friday, and also had 16 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocks.
He's been in a bit of a scoring slump, averaging just nine points per game in the three games entering tonight, and he narrowly averted a scoring crisis again tonight. Jefferson has been the subject of trade rumors, and early season injuries, but has generally performed when healthy.

Al Jefferson was quiet again in Tuesday's blowout loss in New York -- he had 10 rebounds and three assists, but scored just four points on 2-of-8 shooting.
Big Al got a vote of confidence before the game from GM David Kahn, who said he's not looking to trade his franchise player, but then he went out and dropped a dud. He's shown steady improvement this season so consider the past two games a minor setback.
 Al Jefferson-F/C - Timberwolves Jan. 26 - 8:39 pm et

Timberwolves GM David Kahn said on Tuesday that he won't trade Al Jefferson unless he is offered a deal that is "preposterously one-sided."
Jefferson will make $42 million over the next three seasons, but at 25 years old the dominant post presence is not exactly a liability.

 Al Jefferson-F/C - Timberwolves Jan. 24 - 12:08 am et

Al Jefferson hit just 4-of-11 shots on his way to nine points, 10 boards and zero blocks in Saturday's loss to the Bucks.
Ouch. Jefferson had been hot coming in, scoring at least 20 points and hitting at least 10 field goals in each of his previous six games. In other words, he was due for an off night, so just keep rolling him out there.
 Al Jefferson-F/C - Timberwolves Jan. 22 - 11:32 pm et

Al Jefferson went off for 25 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in Friday's loss to the Hornets.
Big Al is really coming around. After averaging just 16.6 points in November and 18.7 in December, he's over 21 a pop in 11 January games. This is what owners paid first- or second-round value for.
