Warriors GM Larry Riley believes Monta Ellis will be back in the Bay Area "in the next week or so."
Ellis has kept a very low profile this summer, but has conveyed to Riley that he's "ready to get started." Head coach Don Nelson is also expected back this week, but "it doesn’t appear the Warriors are close to making a decision on his future."

Monta Ellis doesn't seem to think he'll be traded by the Warriors, and said in a recent interview "I'm happy where I am."
"I talked to [Stephen Curry] this summer. The only thing we can do now is play basketball," said Monta. "[Warriors management] got us a lot of new pieces. Hopefully, we can stick them together and plug up the holes we've been missing." He is also hoping for better health this year, after missing 18 games last season with a sprained knee, ailing back and a curiously prolonged flu.

New Warriors owner Joe Lacob might "test drive" the team's current employees before making any major changes, which means Don Nelson could remain head coach.
Such a move would be good news for GM Larry Riley and president Robert Rowell, though it's all speculative and their jobs are by no means safe. Lacob has said, for instance, that he wants a 'young and energetic' coach, which doesn't sound like a description of Nellie.

Warriors coach Don Nelson has one year remaining on his contract, and he hopes the team’s new ownership group will let him stay on this season.
"I’d love to coach another year, but I understand that it’s a possibility (I won’t be retained)," Nelson said. "I want to do what’s best for the organization. If I have to be a part of the change, I will understand." The team was sold last week, but the deal needs to be approved by the NBA’s Board of Governors -- if that doesn’t happen until close to the start of the season, the new ownership might be inclined to stay pat.

Erik Spoelstra's father is an executive for the Mandalay Group, which recently took ownership of the Warriors, leading to speculation that the Heat coach will eventually leave Miami for Golden State.
The notion is fueled by the widespread belief that Don Nelson's job as Warriors' coach is in jeopardy, and the theory that Pat Riley will usurp coaching duties from Spoelstra at some point this season. For now, however, Spoelstra Jr. is happily gearing up for a championship run -- and it's worth noting that his father's title doesn't scream 'influence' -- vice chairman of marketing for baseball properties.

The winning bidder for the Warriors franchise could be announced as early as Tuesday.
Current owner Chris Cohan is expected to soon decide which ownership group he will sell to, and an announcement should soon follow. The favorite all along has been Oracle owner Larry Ellison, but there are three other groups vying for the team.
