Former Rockets guard Von Wafer said Saturday that the back issue that caused a failed physical in December is much better.
Wafer bought himself out of a European contract so he could sign with the Rockets, but then failed the physical. He's angling for another shot, but would be a longshot for value in Houston anyway. Wafer averaged 9.7 points a game with the Rockets last season.

The Rockets have signed F Mike Harris to provide depth with Chase Budinger out until mid-January with a sprained right ankle.
The Rockets had formerly reached an agreement with G Von Wafer, but Wafer failed his physical. Harris had been averaging 25.3 points and 7.1 rebounds this season in the NBA D-League. Barring a string of injuries for the Rockets, Harris is unlikely to have much fantasy value this year.

After leaving Europe, Wafer was expected to sign with the Grizzlies, but tests on Sunday and Monday revealed hip and back injuries. Memphis has decided to pass on the guard but the Rockets look to be interested.
If Wafer is signed by the Rockets he could fill the same role that he maintained last season. Wafer was a solid source of cheap points last season but nothing is official yet so don't think about grabbing him.

Free agent guard Von Wafter went through a series of physicals on Monday and is on the verge of signing with the Grizzlies.
The team could officially announce his signing as soon as Tuesday. In his last NBA stint, with the Rockets in 08-09, Wafer averaged 9.7 points on 45% shooting (39% from downtown).

The Memphis Grizzlies are in talks with former Houston Rockets guard Von Wafer in the hopes to add a perimeter threat to their roster.
Wafer is currently under contract with Greek team Olympiakos and would require a settlement before being allowed to sign with the Grizzlies. Wafer averaged 9.6 points per game with the Houston Rockets in 2008-2009 and shot 39% from behind the arc.

Free agent guard Von Wafer has agreed to a two-year contract with Olympiakos worth approximately $10 million.
Wafer joins a stacked Greek team that already has Josh Childress and Linas Kleiza in the lineup. Like those two players, Wafer also has an opt-out clause that would allow him to return to the NBA next summer.
