Lakers coach Phil Jackson hopes to limit veteran PG Derek Fisher to under 25 minutes per game, in an effort to keep him fresh for playoffs.
Fisher has averaged over 32 minutes so far this season, which means Jordan Farmar and Shannon Brown could get some extra burn in the near future -- just not enough to significantly improve their fantasy stock.

The Lakers did not give Jordan Farmar and Adam Morrison contract extensions by Monday's deadline, making both players unrestricted free agents at this season's end.
Farmar has career averages of 6.8 points, 2.4 assists and 1.9 rebounds and will earn $1.9 million this season. Morrison has career averages of 8.6 points, 1.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds. He will earn $5.2 million this year.

The Lakers have until Oct. 31 to sign Jordan Farmar to an extesion, but it doesn't sound likely to happen.
The Lakers aren't afraid to let him become a restricted free agent, as he hasn't lived up to the hype. It's probably a better idea to see what kind of offers he gets next year than to possibly overpay him now. But they're eventually going to have to find a point guard to replace aging Derek Fisher.

Jordan Farmar expects to challenge veteran Derek Fisher for the Lakers' starting PG job.
"I want to run a team," Farmar said. "There's a lot of jobs out there. I feel I have a lot to offer." The Lakers have listened to trade offers for the 22-year-old guard, but so far haven't shown any willingness to part with him. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect much more than last season's averages of 6.4 points and 2.4 assists per game.

Lakers guard Jordan Farmar has played very well in his first World Series of Poker, staying alive through three days and beating about 4,000 other players.
His chip count is getting low and he'll likely be eliminated before too much longer, but not a bad showing for a guy who has never played competitively before. Unfortunately, his poker stats don't count toward his fantasy scoring totals.

Two NBA sources say the Lakers offered to trade Jordan Farmar or sell their first-round pick to the Rockets, but their offer was turned down.
The Lakers obviously don't view Farmar as their PG of the future, a pressing concern since Derek Fisher turns 35 years old in August. They seem intent on re-signing Shannon Brown this offseason, offering at least a short-term solution at backup PG.
