Renaldo Balkman (back spasms) is out for Friday's game against the Lakers.
Balkman hasn't appeared in a game since Dec. 8. The fact that he was taken 20th overall in the 2006 draft remains one of the biggest jokes in recent NBA memory.

Chris Andersen (ankle) will not play Friday against the Cavaliers.
With Nene (ankle) and Carmelo Anthony (knee) also potentially out, the Nuggets will be very thin in the frontcourt. Joey Graham, Renaldo Balkman, Malik Allen and Johan Petro are all likely to see more time than usual Friday night.

Carmelo Anthony (knee) is unlikely to play Tuesday against the Warriors, according to coach George Karl.
It's looking like the Nuggets will choose to shut Anthony down for a game and allow his bruised knee to heal. If Anthony can't go, look for Joey Graham to get the start, while Renaldo Balkman should also see more minutes off the bench.

The results of an MRI taken after Kenyon Martin injured his left leg in Friday's game showed no break, and he is considered day-to-day with a bruised left fibula.
"I feel better today than I did yesterday," Martin said Saturday. "I've broken the fibula twice in my right leg, and that's the way (the injury first) felt. But I can tolerate playing. I'm not worried, man." Originally thought to be out a couple of weeks, K-Mart and his owners get a bit of a break here.

Renaldo Balkman made his first start of the season in place of injured Kenyon Martin, but ran into a steam engine named Josh Smith on Saturday.
Balkman had just two points, one rebound and five fouls in 11 minutes, while Josh Smith posterized him for a 22-point, nine-rebound, seven-assist, six-block night. K-Mart is going to miss more games, so maybe Balkman will bounce back in the next one.

Renaldo Balkman and Joey Graham are in the starting lineup for the Nuggets on Saturday at Atlanta.
Balkman was nearly a given due to the injury to Kenyon Martin, while Graham will start over Anthony Carter. Our guess is the Nuggets are going with Graham for his athleticsm against one of the league's most agile teams.
