The Knicks waived guards Sun Yue and Gabe Pruitt, along with Warren Carter and Ron Howard on Wednesday.
Yue and Pruitt won a ring with the Lakers and Celtics in the last two years, but neither player had much to do with his team's success.

The New York Times reports that the Knicks signed Sun Yue to a partially guaranteed contract.
The 6'9" guard played a total of 28 minutes for the Lakers last season, and there's a chance he won't even make the Knicks' regular season roster.

The Lakers on Friday waived guard Sun Yue.
Yue skipped summer league to play in China, which appears to have sealed his fate. They're also going to have to pay some luxury tax, and dumping Yue will save them about $1.5 million. He wasn't set to get many minutes anyway.

Lakers assistant GM Ronnie Lester said on Saturday that Sun Yue might be the "odd-man out" of the regular season roster.
Yue has skipped summer league for two consecutive years, opting to play overseas, which doesn't sit well with the Lakers. L.A. wants a maximum of 13 players heading into the season, and Yue is not a significant role player anyway.

Sun Yue, who has been playing in the D-League, sprained his ankle on Monday and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Not that he would have had any fantasy value over the duration of the season anyway. Sun finishes his rookie year having averaged 0.6 points in 10 games and will need to make a significant leap to claim a spot in the Lakers' rotation in 2009-10.

The Lakers have sent Sun Yue back to the D-League.
He has totaled just six points in 10 games with the Lakers this season and doesn't have any fantasy value.
