James Posey was our Season Pass Pickup of the Day and had eight points, 10 rebounds, six assists, a steal and two 3-pointers off the bench. Posey still looks like the better pickup in the absence of Marcus Thornton, who might be shut down until the break with a back injury.

Marcus Thornton will be out of the Hornets lineup Friday night against the Sixers due to a bruised lower back.
The decision to shelve Thornton came at the team's shootaround this morning. According to team reports, Morris Peterson will get the start over James Posey, but Posey is still the recommended fantasy play Consider Thornton day-to-day for now and we still like him as a must-start fantasy play whenever healthy.

Marcus Thornton is questionable for Friday night's game against the Sixers with a bruised lower back.
"It's very sore today, and we'll see how he feels at the shootaround before any final status is determined," Hornets Coach Jeff Bower said. Thornton missed Thursday's practice and had X-rays taken, but the X-rays came back negative. James Posey should get the start if Thornton is out. Check back before tip off.

James Posey will be the Hornets' backup point guard if Marcus Thornton (back) misses any games.
Posey is in line for some heavy minutes in the immediate future. With Chris Paul (knee) out and Thornton likely limited, Posey will see significant action at both guard spots. Even at age 33, he will make enough treys to be a fantasy factor.

Marcus Thornton (back) missed Thursday's practice and is listed as "questionable" for Friday's game against the Sixers.
For now, Thornton's injury is being called a back bruise and his status for Friday will be determined after the shootaround. It doesn't sound serious. If the impressive rookie can't go, James Posey and Morris Peterson would be called upon for extra minutes.

James Posey had eight points, 10 rebounds, six assists, a block and a 3-pointer in Wednesday's loss.
He's been injured and has struggled for most of the season. Tonight's line was fantastic, but we'd like to see him do it a couple more times before recommending him as a pickup.
