If the Nets are unable to work out a trade to move Bobby Simmons and Tony Battie, both veterans are likely to be waived after the trade deadline.
Simmons hasn't played meaningful minutes since December and has a potentially valuable expiring contract. The Nets will set him free to sign with a contender if they're unable to move him.

Devin Harris (finger) will play Sunday against the Hawks.
Keyon Dooling (hip), Eduardo Najera (back), and Bobby Simmons (sore neck) will also be suited up and ready to go. Chris Douglas-Roberts (knee) was a late scratch Sunday, as well, and Harris will be needed to pick up the slack. That is, if they're actually concerned about winning.

Simmons is expected to play on Sunday, though his presence doesn't have much of an impact on fantasy lineups.

He has fallen out of favor in Jersey despite a slew of injuries.

Nets forward Bobby Simmons missed Saturday's game to attend to personal matters in Chicago.
Terrence Williams replaced him in the starting lineup but managed just eight points and three rebounds in 28 minutes. The Nets don't play again until Tuesday, so it's possible this will be the only game Simmons misses.

Chris Douglas-Roberts returned on Friday after a bout with swine flu -- he came off the bench for five points on 2-of-6 shooting in 18 minutes.
CDR shouldn't have much trouble re-overtaking veterans Trenton Hassell or Bobby Simmons for a starting gig, as the Nets are obviously playing with an eye to the future (in Brooklyn?) this season.
