An MRI exam revealed that Andrew Bynum avoided serious injury, but has a strained right elbow, making him doubtful for Friday's game against the Grizzlies.
Also, Pau Gasol got some limited work in Thursday's practice, but still looks unlikely to play on Friday. If neither player can go, look for D.J. Mbenga to get the start. Josh Powell and Luke Walton would also be likely to pick up extra minutes.

The Lakers opted not to terminate the contracts of forward Josh Powell and center D.J. Mbenga, keeping both players in L.A. next season.
Neither player is worth owning in fantasy leagues, but they add toughness and depth to L.A.'s frontcourt at discount rates. Mbenga blocked 1.04 shots per game last season, despite averaging under eight minutes.

Lamar Odom (back spasms) is questionable for Tuesday's Game 5 matchup with the Rockets. He left Game 4 in "immense" pain and will have an MRI and CT scan on Monday.
"It hurts really bad," Odom said. "I tried to leap off of one foot, and that’s when you’re most vulnerable." It didn't help that he landed directly on his back, with nothing to break his fall. Andrew Bynum could start if Odom is unavailable, moving Pau Gasol to power forward, or the Lakers could go with Josh Powell.

Lamar Odom served his one-game suspension on Wednesday in a win over the Rockets.
He'll be back on the court for Thursday's game at San Antonio, so Josh Powell, who scored 17 tonight, should go back to obscurity.

Josh Powell scored 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting and added nine rebounds in a start for the suspended Lamar Odom on Wednesday.
Powell won't have fantasy value going forward since Odom will be back for the next one, but is probably worth keeping an eye on.

Josh Powell played 20 minutes of garbage-time ball during the Lakers' blowout over the Suns on Thursday, scoring six points with six rebounds and an assist in 20 minutes.
Powell will only produce like this during blowouts, or against defense-less teams like the Suns and Warriors, and is not worth a look for your fantasy team.
