Browns LG Eric Steinbach added 15-20 pounds after the new coaching staff temporarily benched him at spring minicamps.
Steinbach has been one of the league's top guards since joining the Browns in 2007, so messing with his body never seemed smart. It'll help Steinbach keep his starting job and paycheck, though, so it was worth it for him.

Beat writer Terry Pluto believes Eric Steinbach will be the Browns' starting left guard.
Coach Eric Mangini wants Steinbach to add weight, and he's already gained 12 pounds. He's easily the team's best interior lineman.

Browns coach Eric Mangini confirmed that he wants OG Eric Steinbach to bulk up this offseason.
"I think the more Eric hangs out with me, the better chance he has to bulk up," said the ebullient coach. "I've got it down." Steinbach, one of the elite guards in the NFL, has already gained 12 pounds. The Browns would be crazy to bench him for a beefier option.

Eric Steinbach was replaced by Rex Hadnot at left guard to open Browns minicamp.
The old front office drafted Joe Thomas and gave Steinbach a $49.5 million contract in the 2007 offseason to upgrade their blind-side pass protection. New coach Eric Mangini wants more beef inside, however, and Hadnot is wider than the lanky 6'6/295-pound Steinbach. Still, they'd be paying him $3.6 million this year to be a backup. Perhaps Steinbach will go on the trade block.
