Coach Rex Ryan confirmed his team's offseason intentions regarding restricted free agent Braylon Edwards Monday, saying the Jets plan to tender a one-year contract for the highest possible amount.
"I definitely expect Braylon back," Ryan said. "I see us tendering him (at a) first- and a third-round pick, as high as we can go."  After the tender is used, teams looking to acquire Edwards would have to surrender first- and third-round picks to get him via offer sheet. He'll be safe at that level.

Braylon Edwards expressed discontent with his role on offense after Sunday's loss to the Colts.
"I don’t call plays. I just run them," Edwards said. "No disrespect, but they weren’t rolling the coverage toward me." For once, we'd side with Edwards. He did have a second-half drop, but was separating from man-to-man coverage with ease as the Jets went ultraconservative in the final two quarters. All of his 100 yards and his touchdown came in the first half.

Braylon Edwards caught two balls for 100 yards and a touchdown in the Jets' AFC Championship Game loss to the Colts.
If you would've told us beforehand that Edwards would have 100 yards and a score, we definitely would've picked the Jets to win. Edwards, though, went catch-less in the second half as the Colts scored 24 unanswered points to win 30-17. While Edwards' hands of stone remain problematic, few receivers separate as consistently deep downfield. He projects to benefit from Mark Sanchez's second-year progress and will offer upside as a WR3 in 2010.

Impending restricted free agent Braylon Edwards said Wednesday that he'd be "excited" if the Jets tendered him a one-year contract for 2010.
Newsday reported Wednesday morning that the Jets would place a pricey first- and third-round tender on Edwards, rather than give him a long-term extension. "If that's something they're definitely doing, I'm excited," he said. "I love playing here. I would be extremely happy and proud to be a Jet."

The Jets will tender impending restricted free agent Braylon Edwards with one-year contract at the highest possible level, reports Newsday.
Teams will need to give up a first- and third-round pick to get Edwards. So basically, he isn't going anywhere. Edwards won't get the long-term extension he wants as the Jets will make him prove he's worth big money while playing on a one-year deal. He'll cost the Jets about $5 million in 2010.

Braylon Edwards caught two balls for 41 yards in the Jets' Divisional Round win over the Chargers.
Edwards saw just five targets as the Jets passed only 23 times. At least he didn't have any glaring drops. The contract-year wideout has four catches for 56 yards through two playoff games. Against AFC title game opponent Indianapolis in Week 16, Edwards was held to two receptions for 18 yards.
