Walt Harris is getting a second opinion on the torn ACL in his right knee.
Harris is scheduled to miss the entire season, so the delay on surgery won't affect his playing status.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat's Matt Maiocco reports that 49ers CB Walt Harris tore his ACL during Tuesday's voluntary practice.
The Niners could try stashing him on PUP to start the season, but he's more likely to land on season-ending injured reserve. Harris is 34 and in the last year of his contract, so this is a career-threatening injury. If Maiocco's report is true, the Niners will likely have to go with Tarell Brown at right cornerback. Shawntae Spencer is recovering from his own knee issues.

49ers CB Walt Harris sprained his right knee during Tuesday's OTAs.
Harris fell while covering Dominique Ziegler on an out route. He was helped to a cart where he watched the remainder of practice, though a team spokesman says the injury is "nothing major."

49ers coach Mike Singletary admitted there is a "strong possibility" that Tarell Brown will make his first NFL start in Week 13.
Brown, who's been used only in sub-packages to this point, would take over for Walt Harris (questionable, groin). Nate Clements figures to shadow Lee Evans all over the field Sunday, with Brown and Donald Strickland assigned to Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish. Upgrade Trent Edwards' matchup.
