Browns president Mike Holmgren reiterated that Brady Quinn will not need surgery on the mid-foot sprain in his left foot.
"He's right on track, doing his stuff [to rehabilitate]," Holmgren said. "They're not going to have to operate. He's on track to being healed up." Quinn is still in a walking boot, but he's expected to be recovered in time for OTAs.

 Brady Quinn-QB - Browns Jan. 27 - 3:30 pm et

Browns president Mike Holmgren says he has no interest in holding a training camp competition at quarterback in 2010.
"I'm not a big believer in that competition stuff," he said. "We better make up our mind before we go to camp and then put our resources into one guy." This is the best approach. Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson were unprepared last year after Eric Mangini had them split reps throughout camp. By naming a starter, at least the Browns' QB will have gotten enough practice.

Browns president Mike Holmgren reiterated that he's not ready to commit to Brady Quinn as the 2010 quarterback.
Holmgren was shocked that the Browns did so well down the stretch without any help at all in the passing game. Though Quinn did have a couple of promising performances out of a no-huddle attack, he was brutal for the most part, finishing with a 53.1 completion percentage and just 5.23 yards per attempt.

Browns president Mike Holmgren and GM Tom Heckert have both made it clear that they need to upgrade at quarterback this offseason.
Derek Anderson is unlikely to return with a $2M roster bonus in March, and Brady Quinn hasn't shown enough to be counted on as the starter again. Considering the new front office hires, beat writer Tony Grossi expects Matt Hasselbeck, Donovan McNabb, and Kevin Kolb to be the primary trade targets.

Browns president Mike Holmgren indicated that Brady Quinn's foot specialist has recommended against surgery to repair the Lisfranc injury on his left foot.
Quinn will be re-examined by the Browns' medical staff again next week, but Holmgren is confident that surgery will not be required. Quinn would have missed "a number of months" if surgery was advised, but he's now expected to resume football activity within 6-12 weeks. While he may miss the team's conditioning program, Quinn should be fine for spring OTAs.

 Brady Quinn-QB - Browns Jan. 11 - 6:45 pm et

Browns president Mike Holmgren said Monday that Brady Quinn will "clearly" need time to recover from his season-ending foot injury. Quinn will visit a foot specialist on Tuesday.
"I don't believe he's going to need surgery," Holmgren said, admitting the "first thought" is that Quinn may have a Lisfranc injury. A Lisfranc sprain might cost Quinn some OTAs, but it appears he doesn't have a fracture. Quinn's future with the Browns remains unclear after a mostly forgettable 2009 season.
