Colts president Bill Polian expects K Adam Vinatieri (knee surgery) to return "probably around Thanksgiving."
"But Mother Nature has a way of deciding with each individual how far from the average they stray," Polian allowed. "It's not a predetermined date. That's a target." Matt Stover is 6-of-6 on FGs since replacing Vinatieri three weeks ago, so it's no lock that the Colts' incumbent will get his job back.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri (knee) has been in and out of the locker room and not limping, according to beat writer Phillip B. Wilson.
The Colts still say they expect Vinatieri back sometime in December and he doesn't appear in danger of going on injured reserve. Matt Stover has been a quality fantasy option in the meantime, going 4-for-4 on field goals and 6-for-6 on extra points in the last two weeks.

Adam Vinatieri (knee) will be back "long before the season is over" according to team president Bill Polian.
Vinatieri was given a 4-8 week timetable after having surgery on his right knee a couple weeks ago. Polian said the operation was a big success and twice said that the kicker is not lost for the year. Matt Stover is kicking for the Colts in the meantime. Don't expect Vinatieri back until Week 12 at the earliest.

The Colts say Adam Vinatieri could miss as many as eight weeks after having cartilage damage repaired in his right knee.
The team's timetable is "4-8 weeks," but ESPN's Adam Schefter already reported that Vinatieri would be out for at least six. Assuming Matt Stover kicks well out of the gate, Vinatieri will probably end up on injured reserve.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri will miss at least the next six weeks after undergoing surgery on his right knee.
The Colts, who are on a bye, signed Matt Stover to take over. Vinatieri, 36, hasn't been an effective kicker in several seasons and is a candidate for injured reserve. The Colts have been highly effective in the red zone this year, but that probably isn't sustainable. Stover, Baltimore's all-time leading scorer, is worth a look in fantasy leagues when Indianapolis is playing at home.

Colts PK Adam Vinatieri is nursing a knee injury, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Now we know why the Colts, who are on a bye, are taking a long look at Matt Stover. Vinatieri has just eight field goal attempts in five games thanks to Peyton Manning's red-zone efficiency. It's not a great fantasy situation.
