Tyrone Carter | Defensive Back

TEAM: Pittsburgh Steelers
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 5'9' / 195
DOB: 3/31/1976
AGE:33
COLLEGE:Minnesota
CONTRACT INFO: 2010: Free Agent
 Tyrone Carter-DB- SteelersJan. 27 - 2:44 pm et
The Steelers are not expected to retain free agent S Tyrone Carter.
Carter can still play special teams, but was obviously stretched as an 11-game starter at strong safety last season. The 5'9/195-pound 34-year-old is unlikely to get more than a one-year, minimum deal on the open market.

 Troy Polamalu-DB - Steelers Dec. 15 - 12:30 pm et

Steelers SS Troy Polamalu (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Packers.
This is not a surprise as Polamalu is in danger of missing the rest of the season. His MRI last week showed no improvement and the Steelers are just about eliminated from the playoff chase. Even though Polamalu says he wants to get back for Week 17, expect Tyrone Carter to finish the year as the Steelers' strong safety.

 Troy Polamalu-DB - Steelers Dec. 1 - 12:48 pm et

Troy Polamalu (PCL sprain) is doubtful for the Steelers' Week 13 game against the Raiders.
Polamalu limped off early in the Steelers week 10 loss to the Bengals and hasn't practiced since. An MCL sprain to the same knee cost him four games earlier this season but it's unclear if there are any complications resulting from that. Tyrone Carter continues to fill in.

 Troy Polamalu-DB - Steelers Nov. 20 - 1:40 pm et

NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports the Steelers are "hopeful" that Troy Polamalu's PCL sprain won't cost him more than three games.
Polamalu is already out for Week 11, and La Canfora calls his odds of playing the following week "remote." While Polamalu's PCL injury isn't to the same ligament that cost him four games early this year, it is to the same knee, which is cause for plenty of concern. Tyrone Carter will continue to start.

 Troy Polamalu-DB - Steelers Nov. 15 - 1:38 pm et

Troy Polamalu was taken to the locker room in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Bengals with a knee injury and will not return.
It looks like Polamalu re-injured the left knee that caused him to miss four games earlier this season. Tyrone Carter stepped in and he'll play the rest of this game. The Steelers can only pray that this isn't a long-term injury, but it doesn't look good right now. On the bright side, Polamalu was able to walk off the field on his own power.
 Ryan Clark-DB - Steelers Nov. 4 - 3:04 pm et

NFL.com's Jason La Canfora confirms that Steelers FS Ryan Clark is likely to be held out Monday night against Denver because of his sickle-cell trait.
This is the smart move by Pittsburgh, as Clark could risk career or even life threatening complications in the thin air. Tyrone Carter is a veteran in Dick LeBeau's defense and plenty capable of filling in adequately at free safety.
