Free agent Jason Taylor reportedly "cooled on returning" to the Dolphins after he lost third-down snaps to Cameron Wake and Charlie Anderson in 2009.

Neither side is committing to a reunion in 2010, but Taylor understands that Joey Porter's exodus could mean a more lucrative one-year deal for him. If the Dolphins offer him a pass-rushing job with significant playing time, he's expected to return.

Dolphins VP of football operations Bill Parcells was noncommittal Monday when asked the odds that free agent Jason Taylor will be re-signed.

Taylor, 36 before next season, has made it clear that he will not retire. "I don't know the answer to the Taylor question at this moment," Parcells said. "He's a free agent as of March 5 and we haven't discussed it yet. We'll see where that goes when the time comes." It sounds like the sides have not talked about an extension. Taylor had seven sacks in 2009.

Impending free agent Jason Taylor says he will continue to play in 2010.

Taylor was noncommittal about his plans earlier this month, but appears all set to continue into his age-36 season. He had seven sacks and three forced fumbles as mostly a situational pass rusher last year and will generate interest on the open market. New England is a possible landing spot.

Impending free agent Jason Taylor remains undecided about his plans for 2010.

Taylor signed a one-year deal for $800,000 plus incentives before the season. The 35-year-old outperformed the deal as the Dolphins' best linebacker, so the team may have to up the ante to bring him back.

Jason Taylor left Sunday's game against the Patriots with a shoulder injury.

Taylor stayed down for a minute after a 58-yard pass play to Wes Welker. He returned to the game in the second half.

Jason Taylor didn't rule out playing for the Patriots next season.

Taylor, 35, has no plans to retire as he's healthy and in the midst of a big year. He almost signed with the Pats prior to this season but backed out at the last minute due to "changing circumstances and family commitments." We're still fully expecting Taylor to finish out his career with the Dolphins.
